FAQ - Does Curbstone Card store or display the card number?

Curbstone Card stores the card number using strong encryption,  This is validated by a third-party, PCI-approved security auditor.  Every transaction is assigned a unique meaningless token that can be stored by the Order Entry or accounting software.

By default, our software never returns the full card number once it is submitted for processing.  A "masked" copy is returned, displating only the last four digits.

Use of the card info for returning customers, recurring billing, and credits is supported by using the token of the prior transcation in place of the card number.  This is called a "referential" transaction.

Retriveal of the full card number, for audit or special administrative purposes is supported for users with appropriate authority.  According to the PCI security requirements, all access to the readable card number is recorded in a security access log.
